This year's conference has now finished. The organisers would like to thank all the speakers, the staff who chaired the sessions and everyone who came to listen and to ask questions. Photos of the conference are online here.
The Linguistics & English Language Postgraduate Conference will take place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 April 2007.
The LEL Postgraduate Conference is an annual event which provides postgraduates with a forum to present a paper or 'work in progress' and to discuss their work among peers. It offers postgraduates a great opportunity to refine thoughts, share concerns, and receive constructive criticism in a supportive and convivial environment. It is also a great way to gain experience in conference presentation.
We would like to offer as many postgraduates as possible the chance to present their papers, so time for presentations will be restricted to twenty minutes with a 10-minute discussion period to follow. The option of presenting a poster is also available for students who would prefer this method of presenting their work. We welcome papers from any Linguistics or English Language postgraduate of the Scottish universities although we will give priority to LEL students of the University of Edinburgh, especially to our second and third year PhD students who are usually expected to participate in the conference (unless granted exemption by their supervisors). For our first year PhD students and our MSc students, participation is optional but keenly encouraged.
The 2007 Organising Committee consists of postgraduate students in LEL: Rhona Alcorn, Will Barras and Lauren Stewart.
