The aspectual class of verbs seems to be divided into two major types, i.e. stative predicators (states, achievements, reflexive accomplishments) and dynamic predicators (activities, transitive accomplishments). In imperfective aspect, the statives express resultant states (Japanese, Chinese) or transition to state (English), and the dynamic predicators express progressive (Japanese, Chinese, English). Interestingly, when this classification is applied to perfective aspect, the former select BE-auxiliary and the latter HAVE-auxiliary.
